How to record hidden pipes and cables
Include fixed reference points. Corners, window reveals and floor lines help you locate a service later.
Measure before covering. Use a tape measure to record each service from the named reference edge.
Enter details before placing a marker. Choose the service type, enter its distance, depth and note, then click its position on the photograph.
Mark useful points. Record bends, junctions, valves and route changes rather than adding unnecessary markers.
Keep more than one view. A wide context photograph and a closer detailed record work well together.

Hidden services recorder FAQs
Does this measure or detect pipes and cables automatically?
No. Enter measurements you have physically checked before placing each marker. The tool records visible services before they are covered; it cannot see through a finished surface.
Why must I enter details before clicking the photograph?
The distance, depth and note are saved when the marker is placed. A placed marker cannot be edited, so remove it and place it again if any detail is wrong.
How is this different from Tool 2?
Tool 2 estimates general lengths and angles from a photograph. Tool 9 creates a structured record from measurements you physically enter, with service types, safety notes, numbered markers and a downloadable schedule.
Are the photographs uploaded?
No. The photograph and finished record are processed locally in your browser.
What should I record?
Include the room or elevation, date, reference edge, measured offset, cover depth, service type and any junction, valve or route change that may matter later.
