- Add doors and windows. The calculator subtracts their area from walls and door widths from skirting.
- Choose a material. Use the coverage shown on the product you intend to buy.
- Keep a sensible allowance. Cuts, damage, pattern matching and touch-ups create waste.
Room and materials FAQs
Are doors and windows deducted?
Yes for wall paint, wall tiles and wall insulation. Door widths are also deducted from the skirting run. Wallpaper uses full drops and deliberately does not deduct openings because usable offcuts depend on the pattern and position.
Why is a waste allowance added?
Materials are lost through trimming, awkward corners, damaged pieces, colour matching and future repairs. The right percentage depends on the product and room.
Can I use feet?
Yes. Switch the room and opening inputs to feet. Results and product coverage are normalised to square metres so they match most packaging.
